The most frequent question one hears in a hospital setting is:

“How do I find the charge nurse or the specialist on-call?”

MH-CURETM has a simple solution – it’s called the Dynamic Role.

Everyone understands “forwarding of calls and text messages,” but how do you do that in such a way as to minimize caregiver or administrative intervention?

The problem – nursing

In many acute care facilities, the charge nurse has an internal phone number (e.g. x8000) assigned to that role. In the legacy telephony world, the clinician assigned to that role would have to carry around that specific phone. At shift change, sometimes the outgoing charge nurse would not be able to pass on the specific phone to the new incoming clinician. Also, text messages would be dealt with separately so you would not have a seamless “passing of the baton.”

The solution – nursing

MH-CURE Dynamic Role is the functionality that allows a user in one role to temporarily assign themselves to a different role and receive calls and messages at both. So, a nurse with phone number x8754 can assign her/himself (assuming the security settings are satisfied) to extension x8000 and all alerts, calls and messages with be sent to their newly assigned role-based number. In addition, all incoming messages and calls sent to their traditional personal number will also be received. See Image 1 below.

The problem – physicians

Many on-call physicians are not typically inside the facility. Let’s say I am the on-call neurologist using my own phone number. How do I make sure all messages and phones reach me without any intervention?

The solution – physicians

Dr. Frederick is the neurologist on-call, but he has an emergency to take care of and has to go off-line. He sends a message to Dr. Keys to take over. All Dr. Keys has to do is log in as the neurologist on-call (see image 2 below) and all the calls, messages and alerts (including, for example, any urgent lab alerts) that are sent to the “on-call number” (x9005) will now be sent automatically to Dr. Keys (617-555-1212).  See image 2 below.
